I love the intimacy of this theater so much. I have seen many shows here over the years. Even in the mezzanine, you feel close to the stage. It is a beautiful historic theater. The mezzanine rake is good, it helps with sight lines. Important to know: there are no elevators in this theater, so keep that in mind when purchasing tickets, if you can't do stairs, you should avoid the mezzanines. it is always best to buy tickets at the box office for shows when possible, to avoid huge fees for ticketing sites.

We saw Illinoise here. What a play. Different from anything you have seen on Broadway in a very good way. A+ music, choreography, and acting. A great story about growing up, figuring out who you are and your place in the world, first love of your best friend, and where life goes from there through life experience We saw 18 shows while in nyc. This was by far the best!!!.

The St. James theater is beautiful. We had spacious, comfortable seating with a perfect view of the stage. There was a lot of staff around to assist in the incoming and outgoing traffic and everyone was helpful and friendly. I couldn’t ask for more from a venue.

Great venue. Good sized theater for Broadway. Drinks are pretty expensive, I think cocktails were like $24, bit it may come served in a souvenir glass/cup. Otherwise, good.

The staff at bar were incredibly friendly. Views are excellent from back of orchestra. Gaining access is smooth at security. Would have liked better direction for stage door afterwards. (There is art on a door on wrong side of theater labeling it as stage door)

Went to this theatre to see Spamalot and immediately loved the atmosphere. It’s not handicap accessible off the first floor from what I could tell, but not many old theatres are. I also was in the balcony seats, so that’s its own challenge. The staff was friendly, the production was fun, and overall I really enjoyed everything! Also, please appreciate that the man seated the row in front of us was wearing a Dungeon Daddy button up.

Came here to see Spamalot. The lined moved quickly, the theater staff and ushers and friendly and helpful. The seating is a bit tight, but that's expected with a Broadway theater. The bathrooms were clean and line moved fairly quickly.Drinks at the bar: first drink is a bit pricey, but you get a commemorative cup and refills are discounted and pretty on par for NYC bar prices.

Great old NY theater. Show was excellent with easy entrance and exit. Seats are a little tight because the theater is a bit small but the trade is that all of the seats are nice and close and there really isn’t a bad seat in the house.

We came for Spamalot (a great show, highly recommended) and found the employees excellent. Although the show was packed, we got in quickly & found our seats. The washroom was clean and efficient. We were seated around 10 rows from the stage, so views were great, as were the acoustics. So why only four stars? I'm 6 ft tall & there was next to no leg room & very tight seating, making it very uncomfortable during the two + hours. It's a pet peeve to have such tight seating in theaters (although I know this is an older theater).

We saw Spamalot last night, absolutely fabulous show. We bought tickets last minute so we had a back balcony seat. It was totally horrible, acoustics were great but if you were out of shape, disabled or handicap, therr is no elevator and we had to probably walk up 5 flights of stairs. Other than that the theater is well kept and very pretty.

Nice theater with all you need for a fun experience for broadway shows w stations for food and drinks and tshirts and collectibles. Bathrooms below in basement. In the heart of Times Square w many others theaters and eateries. The seats were a bit small for bigger people. The stage door seemed to be right on the Main Street (44th street and between 7th and 8th avenues). We saw Spamalot and it was great here! Go see it.

The theater is a lovely size and acoustics were terrific for Spamaot. My original seats were way up in the balcony by the back almost the last row. However, it is so steep as lots of older theaters are and I was about to have an anxiety attack. I could not even walk to the seat. The usher noticed my struggle and offered to move me and my other guests down to the mezzanine. So they moved four people from the very top to great mezzanine seats pretty close to center. They were the nicest ushers on every level. Such a joy.!!! Thank you, Saint James theater

Saw Spamalot and sat front row center. An absolute fantastic production. Incredibly funny and entertaining production.Seats are very small and close together, like most theaters. There is a coat check in the lobby. I ended up stashing mine under my seat.

Nice theatre!! Be ready to get really close to your neighbor, the seats are crazy tight and your knees, if you are over 5 foot, will be touching the person in front of you’s seat. Great sound and view from anywhere in the theater.

Great little theatre! The staff is very attentive, and the seats are comfortable, and you can see very well even from the back seats at the orchestra. We saw Spamalot and it was wonderful. Recommended to arrive early.

Charming theatre with an intimate/snug seating arrangement. Hopefully, you don't get Andre the Giant sitting in front of you, though. Staff were friendly. Booze was expensive, but I got to keep the themed plastic sippy cup. Overall, I enjoyed the show immensely, and that's more important to me than anything else.

Went to St James Theatre to watch Spamalot show. The actual theatre itself is quite old/dated but it’s charming.Expect wait times to go to the bathroom, and the seats in the upstairs mezzanine area that I sat in were extremely cramped! I’m also a short person (5”2) and I barely had space for myself and a purse. There was a couple sitting in front of me who left at intermission because they were so uncomfortable!Acoustics were good, could hear everyone and could see the stage quite clearly from upstairs too.Hopefully the theatre renovates one day and can make the experience a bit more comfortable!

A solid theatre in a convenient location, right near Times Square and plenty of good restaurants in Midtown. The seats in the mezzanine are comfortable and provide an unobstructed view of the stage. We went to see New York, New York here, but luckily that is now closed.

This is really based on review of show New York, New York more than the theatre. Theatre is fine and intimate. We were able to get rush tickets for row F which were partial view seats. It did cut off some scenes on the right side of the stage but the show was still fantastic, particularly act 2. The music is too notch.

New York New York was everything you want to experience with a Broadway show. The depth of talent on the stage was incredible. It wasn't our first choice for a show, but came so highly reccomended. I now understand why.St James Theater is beautiful but has a fair number of steps. Anyone with mobility concerns may want to avoid the balcony or mezzanine.

Loved this quaint theatre to see the production Broadway. Staff super friendly and efficient to help everyone get seated or check seats. The theatre is much smaller than other ones I have been to and stage was small. I had a close seat so wasn’t a problem could see everything and hear everything. Loved the atmosphere. Seats were comfortable. Snack prices and drinks during intermission is outrageous but I guess in line with other theatres which is too bad we pay a lot of tickets why gouge your guests with $10 chips or &10 pop. Our performance the stage raises up to show the orchestra - that was amazing and gives credit where credit is due. Loved the theatre was easy to find along with other Broadway theatres.

I know other reviews say otherwise but I actually really liked this theater. Was just here last night for New York New York (loved the show!!) and really enjoyed how comfortable our orchestra seats were. Actually generous leg space.I normally dread going to the ladies room at theaters like this but 15 mins before the show started, I went and much to my relief, was surprised how clean and SPACIOUS, with more than 10 cubicles at both ends so it was pretty nice. Heck even nicer than some airport bathrooms so they must be doing something right . 😉
